Help us fight cancer – cancer survivor

Instead of just ignoring this disease, join hands with local fellows Iain and Gert in their fight against cancer.

Well-known motivational cancer awareness duo, Iain Batten and Gert de Beer, from the African Survivor Foundation (ASF), held a talk about this deadly disease at Laerskool Randfontein on Thursday, 13 October.

ASF is a registered Non-profit Organisation ( NPO) that holds motivational talks about testicular cancer.

This team goes to local schools, churches and many other venues to make men and boys aware of the importance of having themselves examined for testicular cancer.

Iain, who himself is a testicular cancer survivor, told the heartrending story of what he went through when he was only diagnosed in the later stages of testicular cancer, and said, “The earlier you examine yourself, the better.”

ASF does not just motivate men and boys, but also women. They have had various incidents where they have helped residents pick up that they have this life-altering disease before it was too late.

Unfortunately, Iain and Gert (also known as Gert Kitaar), are struggling to keep this organisation above water. They have approached various companies for donations and support, but to no avail. In this month of cancer awareness, they are asking the community, churches, residents and companies to support them in their fight against cancer.

Iain and Gert are challenging the community to join the fight against cancer, instead of just ignoring this disease. Anyone who is willing to offer support or make a donation to the NPO is asked to please contact Iain on 084 353 9724.
