CPF keeps children safe

'Children are approached by drug dealers and men who mistake them for prostitutes.'

On Saturday, 7 October, the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) hosted a community project at the Palm Street play park.

They spend the day cleaning up the park, and were assisted by some residents. Natilly van der Westhuizen, spokesperson for the Sector 4 CPF said, “This park is intended to be a playground where children can play, kick a ball and use the other facilities put there for them.”

She continued by saying that unfortunately, in this park alcohol and drugs are used as well. Van der Westhuizen said dead dogs are dumped in the park, and all kinds of refuse are discarded there.

“When teenagers and younger children go to the park to play, they are approached by drug dealers and men who mistake them for prostitutes,” she said.

Sector 4 CPF invites the community to join them in protecting the children and teenagers in the community. Residents are welcome to assist the CPF Sector 4 also in cleaning up the park.
