The Festa Portuegesa is coming to town

From delicious food and traditional dancers to entertainment for the entire family.

The Portuguese Festival has been an annual event for 27 years and another one is around the corner.

It is a tradition that has been brought down from Madeira, Portugal by the current generation’s parents and grandparents.

In Madeira it is a custom for the church to host a festival for the community once a year, which has also been implemented in Randfontein.

According to Sandra Nascimento, event organiser there is a small Portuguese community as well as quite a few Portuguese-owned businesses in Randfontein. These businesses will be represented at the food and drink stands at the festival. Tasty traditional prego rolls, espetadas, caipirinhas and galinhas will be available at various stalls.

The community can also look forward to traditional dancers and entertainment for the entire family, among many other things.

This Portuguese Festival is set to take place at the St Anthony Catholic Church in Randfontein on Sunday, 30 October at 12 noon.
