460 suspects behind bars in one week

Arrests ranged from hijacking to fraud.

The West Rand Cluster Police arrested 460 suspects in one week.

According to Constable Gloria Maswanganye, the arrests took place during the week of 19 September.

The most notable arrests made were of a man for murder and a suspect for being in possession of a hijacked vehicle.

Regarding the murder arrest, a 38-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his mother after a dispute about money. In the latter case, a suspect was arrested by the Kagiso Reaction Team along the N14 in Diepsloot for being in possession of a truck hijacked in Westonaria.

Other arrests were made for:

• Rape

• Armed robbery

• House robbery

• Business robbery

• Housebreaking and theft

• Human trafficking

• Pointing a firearm

• Fraud

• Illegal mining

• Possession of dagga

• Possession of dangerous weapons

• Theft

• Drunken driving

• Abandoning a crime scene

• Culpable homicide

• Dealing in liquor illegally

• Contravention of a protection order

• Shoplifting

• Illegal immigrants

Major General Anna Mateisie, West Rand Cluster Commander was satisfied with all the arrests and motivated the cluster’s officers to continually work hard to bring criminals to justice.
