27 December declared a public holiday

Yipee! 27 December was recently declared a public holiday.

This year will technically only have 11 public holidays, but there is no need for workers to worry.

Christmas falls on a Sunday this year and the law stipulates that the holiday must be held the next day. Or does it …

Because Christmas falls on a Sunday and the following day is the Day of Goodwill, the Presidency has announced that 27 December will be made a public holiday this year.

This decision comes after unions pointed out that workers will be missing out on one of the 12 days they are entitled to by law. Workers will now happily have the extra day on 27 December.

This will make for a long Christmas weekend at the end of the year for workers.
