Color Run fever hits town

Residents filled the streets of Greenhills to take part in the second annual Color Run.

The streets surrounding Greenhills Stadium came to life in true Rainbow Nation style recently for the second annual Color Run™ Go West 5km race.

Dressed in various colours, athletes in all shapes and forms could easily have been mistaken for victims of the Chernobyl disaster, or religious devotees coming back from a retreat, or even aliens from Mars who’d invaded the town from a lost space ship.

Audrey Joao from Zen One confirmed that over 4 000 people took part in this year’s Color Run™.

WRDM Executive Mayor, councillor Boyce Maneli; Municipal Manager, Moreashike Mokoena; the MMC, councillor Xulu; Kelina Nldlovu (a manager in the Department of Health and Social Department) and Teboho Joala, CEO of Zen One, were among the hordes of free-spirited beings who invaded the streets of Greenhills. Former Springbok steeple-chase athlete and former Randfontein mayor, Frans le Grange, also was in attendance.

“This time we had an increase in the number of entrants, so we had to get them off batch by batch to avoid chaos. We had four batches in total,” said Audrey.
