A woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds was found dead on Tuesday night (20 September) after a fire broke out in her bedroom in her home in the Kokosi Settlement at Merafong, which is situated within the West Rand District Municipality.
Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, said paramedics arrived on the scene and found the body of the woman lying on the porch outside her home. She had apparently been pulled outside by an unknown member of the community.
“ER24’s paramedics assessed the woman and found she had already succumbed to her numerous wounds. They initially found that she had sustained a number of severe burn wounds, but on further assessment, they found several apparent stab wounds on her body.
“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on the scene. Fire services managed to extinguish the blaze prior to the arrival of paramedics.”
It is also said members of the community had apparently attempted to extinguish the blaze, using buckets of water and sand.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
