Elderly man assaulted: Attackers alleged R’fonteiners

Arrests of attackers, allegedly Randfonteiners, who assaulted an elderly man in Rustenburg, are imminent.

An elderly man, believed to be 68 years old, was recently assaulted in Rustenburg. His attackers are allegedly from Randfontein.

Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, the Rustenburg Police spokesperson, confirmed the assault.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Friday, 9 September; however, the exact location of the assault has not yet been confirmed. Mokgadi said the incident might have taken place at a garage in the area, while the Rustenburg Herald reported that it allegedly took place at Jabes Motors in Rustenburg.

Mokgadi explained that the exact circumstances of the assault are not yet known as there have been conflicting stories about the case.

According to Mokgadi, he cannot confirm or deny whether the suspects are from Randfontein. He did however say the suspects have been profiled. He cannot make more information public as this might jeopardise the case.

“No arrests have been made but we have profiled the suspects. The arrests are imminent,” he said.
