Twelve crimes in two days in Rand West City

A total of 12 crimes ranging from housebreaking and assault were reported in R'fontein and W'aria in just two days.

EPR Security has released a statement covering just the past two days – when various crimes were reported.

The most frequent crimes were housebreaking, theft and assault. In Randfontein a total of 11 crimes were reported on 11 and 12 September. In Westonaria, however, only one incident was reported during the same period.

Crimes reported in Randfontein

Sunday, 11 September:

• Attempted theft – Kenneth Road, Greenhills (Car door lock broken)

• Domestic violence – Wheatlands Agricultural Holdings

• Intimidation – Meyer Katz Street, Westergloor

• Theft – Park Street, CBD (Out of business)

• Assault – Hillside Agricultural Holdings

• Damage to property – Loumarina Agricultural Holdings

• Housebreaking – Sutherland Street, CBD

• Housebreaking – First Street, CBD

Monday, 12 September:

• Assault – Kenneth Avenue, Greenhills (Worker allegedly attacked manager)

• Damage to property – Geldenhuys Street, Randgate (Lock damaged)

• Robbery – Owl Street, Greenhills (Two suspects arrested)

Westonaria

Sunday, 11 September:

• No incidents reported

Monday, 12 September:

• Theft – Van Riebeeck Street

According to the latest crime statistics released by the police, the number of burglaries at residential premises in Randfontein has increased from 778 incidents in the period April 2014 to March 2015 to 901 incidents in the April 2015 to March 2016 period.
