RPA and members ‘go fishing’

RPA members 'gone fishing' at one of their newest members, the Ocean Basket restaurant.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) recently hosted another networking function for its members, with the theme ‘Gone Fishing’.

“We always try to make the functions interesting with an element of fun,” said Joy Hamann, RPA publicity officer.

“Since the function took place at one of the newest RPA members’ business, the Ocean Basket restaurant, we asked members to wear fishing hats, no matter how old or ugly. Many members participated in the theme and the prize for the best hat was won by Renier Ludick from Ludick Human Resources.”

The lucky draw prizes were sponsored by members of the RPA. The sponsors included Ocean Basket, the Connie Mulder Centre, Ludick Human Resources, Elite Needle Craft, the Just In Time Baby Sanctuary, Pest Control Specialists and coach Anton.

“We did not want anyone to go home empty-handed, so we gave each member an RPA branded notepad and pen. Ocean Basket also gave each person a VIP card so they can enjoy a free glass of wine when they visit the restaurant again,” Joy said.

“We cannot thank our members enough for the contribution they make to our networking functions. The hosting member will normally sponsor the venue and snacks/ drinks, giving them an opportunity to market their business to a new group of people.”

Lucky-draw prizes included two tickets to the Barnyard Theatre, meal vouchers, bottles of wine, branded glasses, chocolate hampers and a free mental-skills training session for sports coaches.

The RPA helps promote local business by means of member promotions (social media and mass email) as well as arranging networking functions for the members to get together and communicate.
