Official crime stats released today

Minister of Police to release crime statistics for 2015/2016.

Last year, the number of murders in Randfontein rose to 31 compared to the previous year’s 29. Rape statistics showed a decease from 79 to 68 cases.

Nkosinathi Nhleko, Minister of Police, and Lieutenant General Khomotso Phahlane, the acting National Commissioner of Police, will release the national crime statistics for 2015/2016 today (Friday, 2 September) at about 1pm in Cape Town.

Randfontein residents will be eager to find out whether the incidence of murders has decreased, given that last year’s statistics revealed an increase in the number of people murdered in Randfontein.
