Get ready for the GO WEST! Cultural Day

Cultural Day will be the official opening event for the month-long GO WEST! Festival

It’s that time of year again where you get to put on your favourite cultural outfit and move to the beat of the GO WEST! Cultural Day.

On Saturday 3 September from 10am to 4pm the official opening event for the month-long GO WEST! Festival will take place at the Khutsong Community Hall.

Forming part of the Cultural Day is the GO WEST! Dance Train Street Parade. This parade showcases the cultural diversity of our rainbow nation through a variety of African dance styles including Gumboot, Hip-Hop, Afro-fusion, Pantsula, Disco, Botswana, Mbaganga and Street Dance.

There will also be performances by Drum Majorettes as well as the Soul Brothers to add even more color to the festivities.

The Dance Train will commence at a central point in Merafong and will end at Khutsong Community Hall where audiences will be entertained with performances by various cultural groups.

There will also be exhibitors showcasing various heritage arts, crafts and lifestyle products. This event is free and open for the public to join and explore a true cultural extravaganza.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the rest of the month’s events such as the popular Colour Run that will be taking place on 17 September at the Greenhills Stadium.
