Twenty-four arrested in R’fontein crime crackdown

Twenty-four suspects were arrested for various crimes during a recent police operation.

The Bekkersdal detectives embarked on a tracing operation that lead to the arrest of more than 20 suspects in a week.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the operation took place between Monday, 15 August and Monday, 22 August.

A total of 24 suspects were arrested during the operation, for crimes which included house-breaking, theft, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), drug possession, armed robbery and carjacking.

Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, the Bekkersdal Police station commander, applauded the officers for their great team spirit. He thanked them for their dedication and said the operation should serve as an example to other members.
