R’fonteiner wishes to help on a large scale

'It's all about rising above,'

Meet Rynhardt Forbes, Randfontein’s own soon-to-be Mr South Africa 2016 contestant.

Rynhardt wishes to tell his story to motivate and inspire those around him, as it’s never too early or too late to turn your life around.

In 2011, Rynhardt landed in an Intensive Care Unit, because his unhealthy lifestyle had had a negative impact on his heart. While there, and as an overweight patient, he made a promise to God.

In this promise, he vowed to become the role model he needed at that stage of his life. While going through his long and difficult journey towards recovery, he realised just how many people were in need of help.

“I’ve wanted to be a superhero since I was a child, and I figured that helping people and sharing my story would be the closest I’d ever get to being one,” he said.

Since then, Rynardt has kept his promise and become the best possible version of himself. This became evident when he made appearances on various TV shows, such as Bravo and Expresso.

In 2012, he was one of the six finalists for South Africa’s Most Eligible Bachelor. After that experience, he decided to enter the Mr South Africa competition. Unfortunately, he then sustained a knee injury which delayed his entry by two years.

Mr South Africa provides the perfect platform to help people on a large scale. I’ve always had a passion for helping people and animals where ever possible,” he said.

Rynhardt is an aspiring surgeon, and spends his weekends volunteering in the trauma unit at the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital, working night shifts. He said it brings him great joy to send people home in a better state of being than when they arrived.

He is confident and optimistic about his journey as a Mr South Africa contestant, as his main focus revolves around giving. Muscle and Fitness Academy (MFA) will act as Rynhardt’s sponsors for all his upcoming projects, as they were the most supportive during his healing period.

“I am looking forward to the chance of representing myself as person, my family, friends, home town and MFA,” he concluded.
