5-year-old’s impress at Arts Festival

‘This goes to show the younger you are, the greater the capacity of your mind to learn is.’

Nine pupils of the Thumbelina Preschool and Daycare exceeded expectations during the Carletonville Arts Festival held on Saturday, 6 August.

The five to six-year-old pupils had to recite poems in their second language (English) in front of a live audience with the complete attention of the judges. Four of the students achieved distinctions while the remaining students received three gold and two silver certificates respectively. All pupils who attended received certificates.

Marlene Arthur, owner of Thumbelina says she was blown away by the performance of her pupils.

“This goes to show the younger you are, the greater the capacity of your mind to learn is.

They recited with precision and were all very clear on stage. We are all in awe of their great performances,” Marlene said.

The results were as follows:

• Imange Zuvidala – distinction

• Nosipho Nyawo – distinction

• Obekeng Pholoholo – distinction

• Lefa Bloem – gold

• Lethabo Sebanta – gold

• Crystal Mongwe – gold

• Kuyole Hita – silver

• Bonang Theka – silver
