Getting married? This is for you …

Here's the chance to find your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

If you are looking to tie the knot and are tired of sifting through endless wedding magazines, the Wedding Expo is the perfect place to find real-life inspiration.

The 15th consecutive Wedding Expo, which will take place on 27 and 28 August at the Ticketpro Dome, understands the South African bride. It showcases the latest local and international trends and promises an entertaining and luxurious experience that will assist the bridal couple in visualising their special day.

The Fashion Theatre at the expo will bring featured fashion magazines to life by showcasing some of South Africa’s inspirational designers, and will replace the traditional runway show. Visitors will not only see the dresses on the runway – they will also have the chance to talk to the designers and fashion experts about the details of the wedding gowns, from fit to embellishments.

Amanda Cunningham, the Wedding Expo’s Managing Director told the Herald the Fashion Theatre is sponsored by the international best-selling relationship guide, Bulletproof Marriage: Your shield against divorce. She said the Fashion Theatre will be a fun and interactive stage that looks beyond the actual wedding day. Its experts will also provide tips on financial and legal matters, and, most importantly, advise you how to build on the love you feel on your wedding day to create a future filled with happiness with your partner.

“This hands-on advice, covering everything from dress design to wedding contracts, usually comes at a premium, but it’s been carefully crafted as part of our offering at the Wedding Expo.”

During the expo, volunteers will be chosen for the extremely popular ‘Make Me a Bride makeover’ which includes a hair and makeup makeover before they choose a wedding gown to model onstage to the waiting audience.

The 12 finalists in the Saturday Star’s Bride of the Month competition will also take to the stage at the Wedding Expo. The public will then vote for their favourite bride for the last time and the woman with the most votes will be announced the winner of the competition at the Fashion Theatre on Saturday, 27 August.

The Wedding Expo offers the opportunity to interact with over 250 exhibitors. Many of South Africa’s top wedding planners, photographers, caterers and designers who will be attending the expo will be offering discounted deals to visitors.

These are just some of the things the Wedding Expo will offer to ensure that your wedding day is the extraordinary experience you’ve always dreamed of.
