VIDEO: Two women fight in church

"I will fight for my pastor"

A video showing one woman hitting another in a church in Toekomsrus has surfaced – during Women’s Month.

Trudy Haywood, the founder of Trudy’s Nest, a haven for Toekomsrus’ elderly was filmed hitting another woman with an offering basket on Sunday, 14 August.

“I did it, but I had good reason to do it. These people [sic] disrupt our church. You don’t swear and hit my pastor in church,” Haywood said.

The incident is alleged to have been the result of an issue in the church in Toekomsrus, which allegedly had caused a number of people to leave the church because of disagreements with the pastor.

According to a source – who wishes not to be named – the church leaders had been investigating the issue for a year and were supposed to give feedback on the matter on Sunday. However, this is not what happened – instead, chaos erupted.

According to Haywood, the members of the church who had left, recently returned to disrupt services.

She said they unplugged electrical equipment during the church service, and one allegedly pushed her daughter, who is the church’s praise and worship leader.

At that point, Haywood said, she couldn’t take it any longer. On finding out that one of said members had allegedly slapped the pastor, Haywood lost her temper and attacked the alleged culprit.

“I will fight for my pastor,” Haywood said.
