Aluminum donated for son’s school fees

Struggling single mother receives donations from an anonymous source.

About three weeks ago Hannetjie Havenga, single mother of three approached the Herald in urgent need of help.

Every month Hannetjie receives a minimal state grant, which isn’t nearly enough to pay rent, put food on the table and pay her youngest son’s school fees. Although she and a friend opened a small business sifting sawdust, business became slow, which made it harder for her to provide for her son.

She came up with the idea to collect aluminium in the form of aerosol cans, among other things.

Hannetjie Havenga thrilled about the donations.

When a concerned Randfonteiner heard Hannetjie’s cry for help, she decided to donate the aluminium (two refuse bags) she had collected to this deserving cause.

This generous person, who wishes to remain anonymous, added that Hannetjie’s story is truly inspiring, considering what she is willing to do for her son.

She said how she is looking forward to helping Hannetjie in future as she will donate aluminium in the form of drinking cans and coffee tins, among other things, whenever she can.
