Two survive horror crash with tree
One occupant was in a critical condition, the other seriously injured.
One patient had to be airlifted and another was transported by ambulance to hospital after their vehicle collided with a tree on the Ventersdorp Road early on the morning of Sunday 24 July.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue team responded to the collision and reported from the scene that the vehicle had swerved off the road and collided with a tree. The exact cause of the collision remains a subject for police comment, however.
Chris Botha, Netcare 911 spokesperson, said when paramedics arrived they found the occupants still trapped in the twisted frame of the vehicle. After they were examined, the paramedics realised the driver had sustained life-threatening injuries, while the passenger was seriously injured.
Firefighters and the Netcare rescue officer worked together to rescue the injured while the paramedics stabilised them.
The critically injured patient was airlifted by the Netcare medical helicopter to a specialised hospital for further care, while the other patient was transported by a private service to a nearby hospital.
