No subject taboo for Piet Pompies

The candid entertainer pulled no punches.

Steve Hofmeyr and Nataniël impressions were the order of the day at Piet Pompies’ recent performance at the Bedrock Pub and Grill.

The comedic entertainer appeared onstage at Bedrock on Friday, 22 July in front of an eager Randfontein crowd.

No subject was taboo for the candid Piet. He started his performance with a few golden oldies remixed to suit his humour and which the crowd met with roars of laughter.

Piet pulled no punches when it came to Jurie Els and the South African rugby teams. Various shots were taken at the country’s top rugby teams. For each of them, he had a different song. The Lions’ song was welcomed by Randfontein – for the Gauteng boys he sang The Lion King theme song. Unfortunately, the Southern Kings were not spared by Piet and their fans were not impressed. Their song was Jammer om te hoor by André Swiegers.

During his performance, Piet also gathered a group of people from the crowd to form his own version of Roxette. The role of Marie Fredriksson, Roxette’s lead singer, was played by Hoërskool Jan Viljoen‘s (Jannas) very own president, Anja Esterhuizen.

The show had promised to be memorable – and Piet delivered on the promise in an excellent performance filled with laughter.
