A number of cows were killed and others injured when a motor vehicle collided with a herd of cattle on the R501 in Carletonville on the morning of Monday 25 July.
Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, said although the male driver managed to escape serious injury, some of the cows have succumbed to their injuries.
The paramedics found the wrecked vehicle parked on the side of the road just after 9.30 am. The entire front section and roof sustained severe damage.
As the paramedics examined the accident scene, they discovered several cows lying a short distance down the road. Unfortunately, some of the cattle had died as a result of their injuries. The local SPCA was on the scene to assist in treating the cattle.
The cause of the collision remains unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
