Suspects jump out of moving mielie truck to avoid arrest

The incident took place after a truck loaded with mielies was stolen.

Two suspects were caught after jumping out of a truck during a high-speed chase.

According to an EPR Security crime report, shift leader Arnold du Plessis responded to the Witfontein community’s outcry after a truck loaded with mielies was stolen in Witfontein.

The incident took place at about 8.35pm on Saturday, 16 July.

Du Plessis got wind of the location of the truck and he and its owners gave chase. He passed the truck on the right-hand side after its driver tried to run him off the road.

Later, four suspects allegedly jumped out of the truck while it was still moving. Once the truck came to a halt, the owners of the truck apprehended the driver while Du Plessis caught another suspect.

Both suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation.
