Two cars collide as a result of a pothole

‘I am not the first one and I’m gatvol!’

Randfontein’s pothole problem has reached boiling point.

This comes after a collision occurred on Condor Drive between Eikepark and Finsbury as a result of a pothole.

It is believed one of the drivers hit a pothole on the road and collided with another vehicle.

According to Wayne Vorster who was involved in the crash, a car coming from Eikepark’s direction in Condor’s South-bound lane hit a pothole, became slightly airborne and collided with Vorster’s car which was travelling in the North-bound lane.

The pothole is approximately 1 metre by 0.5 metres in diameter and is located in a troublesome space as there isn’t much one can do to avoid it without disrupting other road users.

Vorster said he has had to drive with great caution to avoid this pothole in particular every morning on his way to work and so do other motorists.

Although the damage on his car does not look significant, he stated that it can no longer drive as is. He said his bakkie isn’t just for transport, it’s his bread and butter.

The other driver’s car was written off as a result of the crash.

“The municipality must catch a wake-up and look at our roads. They are taking lives because they don’t do anything about it. Look at Greenhills Avenue, it looks like it has caves in it,” Vorster said.
