Three alleged suspects have been left with gunshot wounds after a wild shootout in Westonaria.
According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, when ER24 and other services arrived on the scene, they were met by security and police officers. They were then escorted through the veld to the three patients, found scattered across the veld.
Vermaak said one person was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his head, while another was in a critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. The third had gunshot wounds to his legs.
The critical patient was stabilised and airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the man with gunshot wounds to his legs was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The third victim was declared dead on scene.
It is believed that the incident was the result of a shootout between security personnel and alleged suspects; however, this information has not yet been confirmed by the police.
