Kickboxing club revamped for local church

Altaar Ministries is grateful for their new space.

The congregation of Altaar Ministries had their first service in their new church at the most unlikely location.

Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club transformed one of their training rooms for Altaar Ministries to have a space for church services.

Altaar Ministries was established in November 2014 in the gym of Mile High Club in Wilbotsdal.

Before each service congregants had to assemble their own seats and put it away again afterwards to allow gym members space to use the gym equipment. This all changed when Roelf du Plessis, land owner and Henk Pelser, gym owner, decided to allocate a room exclusively for the church. Roelf and Henk had this premises revamped for the ministry in only two weeks.

With financial assistance from Jacques Coetzee and his wife Delicia they managed to transform a basic room into a proper space of faith.

On Sunday, 10 July the new premises was opened by pastor Johan who thanked the people who made everything possible. This was followed by a praise and worship session. Afterwards they went on to celebrate the new premises with boerewors rolls, chatter and church.

He also mentioned how blessed they are due to the ministry growing from 13 to 80 people in only one year.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you; to everyone who made this possible,” pastor Johan said.
