Police launch manhunt for allegedly dangerous rapists

Police: They took turns raping the victims.

Police have launched a manhunt for three alleged rapists.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police, the manhunt started after two victims were raped in Spooktown near the Bekkersdal graveyard on 21 May at approximately 10pm.

Lefakane said the victims alleged they were walking home from a local tavern when they were confronted by the three suspects.

It is alleged the suspects started an argument and demanded money from the victims. When they didn’t comply with the demand, the suspects began to assault them with a knopkierie and stones.

“They were then allegedly ordered to walk to the open veld next to the graveyard, where the suspects allegedly took turns raping the victims,” Lefakane said.

The suspects allegedly later took them somewhere else and ordered them to wash themselves. Later, they chased their victims away.

The suspects are still at large. The Bekkersdal police are appealing to the community to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects as they are deemed to be dangerous.

Detective Constable Mxolisi Mlambo can be contacted on 063 072 3356 should you have any information about the suspects.
