Don’t know who to support this Mandela Day?

Teiners now have a great platform on which they can find a noble cause.

A lot of people feel stuck with their corporate social investment campaigns having the funding but nowhere to go on the charitable Mandela Day.

Giving 67 minutes and uplifting the community would be a whole lot easier if you knew who hasn’t been helped yet, and who really needs the helping hand.

That’s where For Good comes in. This online platform, at www.forgood.co.za, connects passionate people with accredited causes. Interested parties can log onto the website and respond to a real-time need in their area of choice. They even have the option of posting an offer of their own after which a charitable cause will accept the offer.

“There are some fantastic causes doing great work across the country, all of them need help in one way or another — be it a volunteer’s time, goods or services,” said Andy Hadfield, CEO of the platform.

He describes it as a social market place where skills, goods and services and information can easily be offered and asked for.

“We have been assisting the causes on our website to gather real-time needs for the month of July, and have put all of those requests into a customised search engine. Individuals and businesses can browse for activities in their area, their field of expertise or interest — you won’t have an excuse to not do something great on 18 July,” he said.

Teiners can browse through For Good’s list of opportunities to make their 67 minutes count. Think about it — you and your colleagues could chip in to sponsor classroom equipment, donate winter clothes and file tax returns for an NGO — the possibilities to add real value this Mandela Day are endless.
