Woman killed after calling man a donkey

The woman was stabbed several times in the neck.

29-year-old Xolani Tengwa was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the murder of a 32-year-old woman.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkerdal Police, the incident took place on 24 October, 2015 at a Bekkersdal tavern.

Lefakane explained the victim allegedly called the Tengwa a donkey which started an argument between the two. The fight got heated when Tengwa pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman several times in the neck.

She was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Tengwa was traced and arrested shortly after the incident by Detective Warrant Officer Bernard Magato and Detective Sergeant Serhva Shiviti.

Tengwa was convicted on 14 June, 2016 and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on 30 June, 2016.

Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, station commander of the Bekkersdal Police applauded the two detectives for their outstanding work and said, “It is evident that teamwork in this case paid off.”
