Out with the old, in with the new for CPF Sector 4

Nattilly van der Westhuizen appointed new executive chairperson of CPF Sector 4.

A meeting to select a new management panel for the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) was held at the Randfontein Rugby Club last Wednesday night (29 June).

Following on from the need for a better, stronger management system, Nattilly van der Westhuizen, who was the acting chairperson for quite a while, has been voted in as the new chairperson of Sector 4. “My occupation as a health and safety officer says a lot about me,” said Van der Westhuizen during her acceptance speech. “I am all about keeping the community safe and assisting to the needs of community members.”

The duties of the chairperson include – but are not limited to – ensuring execution of decisions of the executive committee; submitting any required reports on the activities of Sector 4; supervising all board meetings and ensuring conformity with the Constitution.

Members of the Randfontein Police department also were present to act as witnesses to the proceedings. Other positions were filled by local community members.

The first task of the new team will be to fill these positions:

• Community Liaison

• Business Liaison

• Radio co-ordinator

• Event planner

• Training coordinator

According to Zaheer Gangat, executive chairperson of the Randfontein CPF, the CPF acts as a bridge between the police and community.

“The main focus of the CPF is the community, this is why getting more people involved is so important,” Zaheer said.
