Baby Milan joins the Herald’s team

Journalist and second-time mom: It's a boy!

He sat in the Herald’s offices for nearly nine months but on Tuesday, 28 June he finally showed the rest of the team his face.

Little Milan, journalist Maritza van Zyl’s newborn son is a new addition to the Herald‘s team.

Milan will not only join the Herald’s team, he will also be the latest addition to the Roodepoort Record where his dad, Riaan, is also a journalist.

This will make for the dynamite journalist duo’s third boy.

“Well, it really feels good to not be pregnant anymore, I can tell you that,” Maritza joked while in Robinson Private Hospital. She said Milan has so far been a breeze, “He’s so quiet. I’m so glad he’s not fussy,” she said.

The three-time parents were beaming when the Herald went to see the little sea-monkey who sometimes gave Maritza a hard time at the office.

Although the pair know the ropes of parenthood, they admitted they have gotten rusty over the years but will enjoy experiencing every burp, every teary eye and every sleepless night all over again with Milan.

Maritza is not the only Herald team member who has baby fever; editor, Clinton Botha also has a son, Jean, on the way and is eagerly awaiting his son’s arrival so that he can already start training even at an early age to join the Bokke as a young inside centre.

The Herald wishes to convey their congratulations to Maritza and Riaan on their healthy baby boy, Milan.
