Justice being served for murder victim

Community's protests pay off after suspect was denied bail.

Bail was denied for the man accused of the murder of the mother of his child.

The court proceedings took place on Tuesday, 28 June in the case of the deceased Roxanne Andrews, a 25-year-old single mother who was allegedly stabbed and killed by her ex-boyfriend.

Residents of Toekomsrus found today’s court ruling their first win in the fight for justice for Andrews.

Her friends and family members staged a peaceful protest outside the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 2 May in a bid to prevent the court from granting the accused bail but they later learned his case would be postponed twice after the protest.

Although it is not clear what lead to the court’s decision to not grant the suspect bail, Andrews’ family and friends who protested see their protest as not being in vain.
