Construction of Tambotie Mall has begun!

'I'm certain that we're going to deliver the best and safest service Randfontein has ever seen.'

Major construction work has begun on Tambotie Mall and everything is going according to plan.

“We are meeting our schedule for the opening date of April 2017,” George Papavarnavos, developer of the mall told the Herald at an on-site meeting next to Riebeeck Lake in Greenhills on Tuesday, 21 June.

According to George, a team of contractors and workers are currently laying the foundations and steel structure of the mall.

“We are also in the process of getting advertising boards ready to put up within the next month.”

Pierre Wagner, chairman of Bantry Construction – which is based on the West Rand – said approximately 30 workers are on site every day, with more expected as the job progresses. “We’ve hit the ground running. We are all team players and we’re focused on the task at hand,” he said.

Jimmy Pappas, owner of Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse, has waited nine years for the dream of Tambotie Mall to come true. He is extremely excited with how things are progressing. During the sod-turning ceremony in April, Jimmy told the crowd that the mall was an initiative his father, Harry, started over 40 years ago. Since then he and his family have taken over from where Harry left off.

Everything is progressing well at this stage and perfectly on track.

“The mall is really growing from its original planning estimation and the developer has even made provision for further expansion. There is no turning back,” Jimmy said on site.

He added, “We are witnessing the birth of the finest retail centre Randfontein will ever have and I’m certain that we are going to deliver the best and safest service Randfontein has ever seen.”
