Justice for victim of Christmas Day murder

Murder witnessed by victim's 10-year-old son.

Justice will finally be served for the family of a murdered Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member.

The court has found the accused, Bobby Hartney, guilty of murdering the 33-year-old Randfontein EFF Subregional Coordinator, Monde Kwenyama.

Hartney faced three charges; one for Kwenyama’s murder and two for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). He was found guilty on two charges – one of murder and one of common assault, despite the charge being for GBH.

Kwenyama was stabbed and killed on Christmas Day 2014, in Plum Street, Toekomsrus. He was declared dead on arrival (DOA) at the Emergency Services Centre.

According to Kwenyama’s sister-in-law Raylene Martin, Kwenyama’s then 10-year-old son witnessed the entire ordeal.

Hartney is due to appear in court on 6 July for sentencing.

Justice will finally be served for the late Monde Kwenyama’s family. Photo submitted.
