Marthinus Pelser who has been arrested in connection with the death of his baby, entered the court at about 12pm.
He was still wearing the clothing he was arrested in. He has been informed of his legal options. He chose to opt for legal aid. The state opposed bail.
He will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court again on 22 June.
