Update: Detectives worked through the night

Statement on radio causes confusion.

Police are still trying to track down 22-year-old Marthinus Pelser whose six-month-old baby boy was found dead in his cot on Saturday evening.

Detectives have been working tirelessly throughout the night following up leads, said Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

Pelser disappeared with his wife’s car shortly after she had made the grisly discovery.

Jacobs also clarified some confusion that was created on radio this morning (14 June). In an interview on RSG a police spokesperson said Pelser had fled in a white Renault Clio, but Jacobs once again confirmed that the vehicle they are looking for is a copper-colour Kia Picanto (TRX167GP).

Father of deceased baby still missing

According to Jacobs she is unable to confirm the rumour that the baby not only was found with a fractured skull and burn marks but also with blood on his face. Confirmation is pending the autopsy report.

Jacobs once again appealed to the public to come forward with any information that might lead the police to Pelser. She can be contacted on 082 337 1085
