The Caxton Local Newspapers Joburg West Rand branch is looking for an experienced journalist to join the team on a temporary basis.
After the fixed contract term of immediately to 30 September 2016 there should be no expectation of permanent employment.
The job entails:
* Writing daily articles for web and weekly articles for print in the prescribed style
* Social networking across all relevant platforms
* Covering live events
* Taking photographs
Requirements:
Preferably a degree or diploma in journalism with at least one year’s experience in a news room
Fluency in English and Afrikaans
Excellent writing skills in English and Afrikaans: grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure
Ability to meet non-negotiable deadlines
Ability to do research on the internet
Attention to detail
Adherence to in-house editorial style
Own transport and valid driver’s licence (non-negotiable)
Must be prepared to work irregular hours including weekends and evenings
Good time management, planning and organisational skills
Candidates who are invited to an interview will be required to write a language proficiency test.
