It’s raining sleeping bags!

Girls and Boys Town shared their wonderful winter donation with their partners.

Winter is here, but for some Girls and Boys Town (GBT) partners, being cold is a thing of the past as a result of the generosity of a welcome sponsor.

Makro donated sleeping bags by the dozen to GBT as part of its support of the 2016 CEO Sleep Out which involved over 200 business leaders and corporate organisations in raising funds and mobilising other resources to help South Africa’s vulnerable youth.

GBT then decided to share the donation with their other campuses as well as some of their partners.

Various schools and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) received their share of the sleeping bags, which they will distribute to those in need within their schools and organisations.

The beneficiaries included the Bethany Children’s Home, the NACHAM Community Organisation, the Kagiso Secondary School, the Bongweni School, and the Soweto Drama Group.

The handover took place at the GBT’s Kagiso and Randfontein campus, next to Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse.

The beneficiaries each received 50 sleeping bags for their respective organisations. Guests from all over were treated to snacks prepared by one of GBT Kagiso and Randfontein’s pupils, who proved to be quite the chef.

“It takes a village to raise a child and we wouldn’t experience the impact that we currently achieve had it not been for partners who are also dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives,” Lee Loynes, GBT CEO said.
