Woman, 57, arrested for dagga

'75 small packets of dagga was found in an elderly woman's shack.'

Bekkersdal Police have arrested a 57-year-old woman for dealing in dagga.

This after police followed up on a tip off on Tuesday, 31 May said Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Constable Thembinkosi Mapoloba from the Bekkersdal Police was trying to trace suspects when they received information about a woman selling dagga in the Mandela section of Bekkersdal.

Mapoloba proceeded to the address and upon arrival they found a woman and requested to search her shack.

Next to the bed he noticed a black plastic bag. Inside he found 75 small packets of dagga rapped in newspaper. The woman was arrested,” Lefakane said.

She will be charged with dealing drugs and has already appeared before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court.

This is not the first woman suspect that has been arrested in Bekkersdal for drug dealing. The last incident took place on 23 April where a 39-year-old woman also was arrested for being in possession of dagga. The dagga was also found in her shack.

In a separate incident a 29-year-old woman was arrested in Bekkersdal for being in possession of 38 illegal rounds of R5 rifle ammunition. The ammunition also was found in the woman’s shack.
