The West Rand men and women in blue took down 447 suspects, including youngsters, in just one week.
This after all 13 police stations within the West Rand Cluster had their various crime prevention operations from 23 May to 29 May.
Suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from robberies, rape, murder, possession of drugs, unlicensed firearms and possession of gold-bearing material, house-breaking, domestic violence, grievous bodily harm, drunk driving, theft and abduction.
Arrests were made for minor offences, including common assault, shoplifting and trespassing.
The arrested suspects appeared at the Randfontein, Westonaria, Krugersdorp, Carletonville and Kagiso Magistrates’ Courts.
Major General Anna Mateisi, the West Rand Cluster Commander, thanked all members of the West Rand Cluster who took part in the operations saying, “Without all of you these operations wouldn’t be as successful as they are. Well done, team.”
