Animal-whisperer bids farewell

Janette Muller, R'fontein and W'aria SPCA inspector is moving on to head office.

One of Randfontein and Westonaria’s best-known animal whisperers is saying goodbye to the two communities as she climbs the animal-lover ladder.

Janette Muller, Inspector for the Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA, is saying her goodbyes to her communities. She has been with the two SPCAs for the past nine years but will move on to other opportunities within the SPCA.

This seasoned inspector will be moving to the National Council of SPCA (NSPCA) and will be dealing with animal issues on a higher level. The NSPCA is located in Alberton which means that Janette will also be a bit further away from home but her heart will always be with her community.

Janette was told that she could volunteer at her local SPCA in her free time and it looks as though she plans to take up that offer as she will do anything to help the animals.

I’m not leaving because I’m unhappy; it’s a career move on my part and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” she said.

Janette has been through more than most SPCA inspectors, even suffering and surviving a brutal dog attack, but has since picked herself back up.

Janette said she will miss the community of Randfontein and Westonaria as well as the two SPCAs she worked for very muchy.

“I’m still going to be here, though, especially for the Dog Walk. I’m still going to support the community as far as I can,” she said.

Her last official day at the SPCA is Thursday, 9 June, when she will take off her blue and white uniform and embark on new experiences.
