A concerning video, in which a generator is clearly seen being taken from the back of a truck by two young men inside the premises of Hoërskool Riebeeckrand, has surfaced.
It is suspected the young men could still be schoolboys, but according to Annelize van den Berg, Hoërskool Riebeeckrand principal, “A generator like that would be too heavy for two schoolboys to lift.”
The incident allegedly took place at about 6pm on Tuesday, 12 April.
“This incident occurred while a lot of activity was going on in and out of the school’s premises. Our security guard was not instructed to search every vehicle as a lot of parents use that gate as an entrance to the school.
The identity of the two young men is unknown and they cannot be identified from on the video.
“The owner of the truck and generator is a person of private capacity, who had authorisation to park the truck in the school premises,” Van den Berg said.
Van den Berg added that she believed this incident was reported to the police and that the community and schools should be vigilant and keep an eye out for the vehicle in question.
