The council meeting is open to all public members to attend.

Mzi Khumalo, Randfontein Executive Mayor will be presenting his budget speech at the Randfontein Local Municipality at 2pm on Wednesday (25 May) and urges members of the public to attend.

Tshidiso Thlaripe, spokesperson for the Randfontein Executive Mayor Mzi Khumalo confirmed that besides the budget speech, they also will be addressing debt write off’s.

“The Randfontein Local Municipality’s policy on Debt Write Off states that the municipality must consider the write off of residents, who’s due amounts are unlikely to be recovered.”

“The municipality should consider the writing off of debts for the past incurred three years or below.

Accounts that are likely to be written off, will be that from the year 2013, or below. Any amount incurred after 2014, will not be considered for write off,” Thlaripe said.

This context gives power to the Randfontein Local Municipality to consider such an item and to process it. It is within this spirit that the Council of the municipality will consider this item for discussion. The consideration of this item is not for political reasons, but compliance to a policy matter.

“Leadership is elected for a term, within that term, leaders are expected to fulfill their constitutional obligations.”

Thlaripe says. Another item to be considered is the presentation of the budget speech by the Executive Mayor of Randfontein Local Municipality.

The council meeting is open to all public members to attend, it is within each residents right to attend the Council meeting.
