A 29-year-old man has been murdered in Brandvlei after an argument about chickens.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson the incident took place at about 10.30am on Monday, 23 May in Badirile, Brandvlei.
The victim and the suspect allegedly had an argument in an open field about some chickens they shared. The argument became physical when the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim twice; once in the upper body and once in the neck. The victim died instantly and the suspect fled the scene.
“The suspect’s residence was visited but he was not at home.
The murder suspect was arrested by members of the Randfontein Crime Office late on 23 May after members followed up on information,” Ernst said.
The suspect was found at the Denny Mushrooms farm. He is expected to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 25 May.
Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police Station Commander, applauded community members for their assistance in apprehending the suspect and also congratulated the members of the Randfontein Police for tracing and arresting the suspect so quickly.
