Malerato pupils now financially wiser

Principal: This was a great initiative.

Pupils from Malerato Primary School in Mohlakeng underwent training in financial management by Sulabh – a Social Service Organisation – on Friday, 6 May.

Thirty pupils from Grade 6 and 30 from Grade 7 were chosen on the basis of their mathematical skills to participate in this exciting event. The pupils were taught how to manage their money, encouraged to save and shown how to achieve their financial goals. They also were encouraged to ask their parents to open savings accounts for them.

This was a great initiative. It assists pupils to manage their finances from an early age and taught them how to prioritise their needs,” said Georgina van Wyk, principal of Malerato Primary.

Each pupil received a certificate on completion of the training session, and left armed with a lot more knowledge about financial planning.

Malerato Primary would like to thank Sanlam and Sulabh for their sponsorship and the training session.
