Woman’s death a mystery

Police: It is unknown whether the woman fell from the moving train, whether she was hit by a passing train or whether she was thrown from the moving train.

A recent incident at the Homelake Railway Station resulted in the mysterious death of a 44-year-old woman, local police said.

It is alleged that in the late afternoon on Saturday, 23 April, the badly injured body of a woman was found at the railway station, says Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson. The exact time of the incident is unknown. She was transported by ambulance to Leratong hospital shortly after she was stabilised by paramedics on the scene. Her injuries were extensive and she passed away later the same day.

“The Randfontein Detectives are currently investigating an inquest and are urgently requesting assistance from Randfontein residents. It is unknown whether the woman fell from the moving train, whether she was hit by a passing train or whether she was thrown from the moving train.”

Any witnesses to this incident are requested to contact Warrant officer Pappas Mhlongo on 011 278 8100.
