Home targeted twice in one day

Police: A witness informed the complainant that while he was chasing the suspect, he noticed a woman carrying a laptop, leaving the yard.

A suspected burglar and thief tried their luck targeting a home in Westonaria.

The thief, confirmed to be a woman, succeeded while the suspected burglar, a man, escaped.

Captain Siphiwe Ndlovu, Westonaria Police spokesperson confirmed that a laptop and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen out of a garage at the home on Tuesday 19 April.

He said the complainant allegedly was asleep in the main house when he heard someone kicking the garage door. When he jumped up and looked through the window, he saw an unknown man forcing open the garage door.

The complainant rushed out to the suspect, who realised he had been noticed and fled the scene on foot. The complainant then chased after the suspect, but he jumped the fence and disappeared. On return to the garage, the complainant investigated to see if everything was in order.

He then realised his laptop and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen.

A witness informed the complainant that while he was chasing the suspect, he noticed a woman left the yard, carrying a laptop,” Ndlovu said.

The police then traced and arrested a 28-year-old female suspect. She will appear in the Westonaria Court soon, facing theft charges.
