Four suspects target man for his airtime and cigarettes

The robbers fled in a getaway bakkie near the crime scene.

A man was held up at both gun and knife point by four suspects for airtime and cigarettes in Mohlakeng.

The robbery took place at around 1.30pm one Wednesday in April in Mzolo Street.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said, “The victim allegedly parked his vehicle in front of his shop, got out, but was suddenly confronted by four unknown suspects. Two of the suspects were armed, one with a knife and the other with a gun.

The suspects allegedly got into the back of the vehicle and took airtime and cigarettes,” Ernst said.

The robbers fled the scene in a blue getaway bakkie which was waiting nearby.

“No shots were fired and no injuries were reported,” Ernst confirmed.
