Knife-wielding robbers target man in street

The victim managed to draw attention to the robbery to secure the suspects' arrests.

A man in his 20s was attacked and robbed by three knife-wielding men while walking in a street in Aureus.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, a 23-year-old victim was walking along Dodge Street in Aureus at around 10am one Friday when the incident took place.

The victim allegedly was threatened with a knife but shouted to attract attention in order to get help. One of the suspects then kicked the victim and while he was down, all three suspects searched him and took his cellphone.

“The victim was able to follow the suspects and alerted members of EPR Security about the incident. The three suspects, aged 20, 22, and 23, were arrested shortly after the incident,” Ernst said.

The suspects appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 11 April.
