Police: One or more of the suspects in the vehicle was injured.

Two employees of a vehicle tracking company put their lives on the line in a car chase and shootout with suspects in a stolen vehicle on the R41/N14 intersection in Brandvlei.

The incident took place at around 2am on Tuesday 12 April.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “It is alleged by the victims that they were tracking a signal in the area.

“They found the vehicle which was stolen in Ventersdorp and tried to force the suspects in the vehicle to a standstill. The suspects in the vehicle allegedly started shooting at the two tracker employees.

One of the men from the tracking company returned fire and managed to disable the wheels of the vehicle with the fleeing suspects.

“The suspects brought the stolen vehicle to a standstill and then fled the scene. The vehicle was recovered and it is believed that one or more of the suspects in the vehicle was injured since blood was found in the recovered vehicle.

“We are investigating an attempted murder case and would appreciate any information that might assist in the investigation.”
