Motorist robbed at gunpoint for welding machine

Police: A welding machine was taken from the back of the victim's vehicle before the suspects sped off.

A motorist and his two passengers recently were targeted by four armed suspects for a welding machine in Oasis Manor outside the Randfontein CBD.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the robbery took place at around 5.30am on Thursday, 14 April.

“The victim allegedly was collecting his co-workers when a VW sedan blocked his his way and four suspects surrounded his vehicle. The suspects had firearms and pointed it at the victim.

The victim as well as two passengers were then allegedly forced out of the vehicle after which the victim was assaulted by the suspects.

“A welding machine was taken from the back of the victim’s vehicle before the suspects sped off in their sedan.

“No shots were fired and no serious injuries were reported. The investigating officer is urging any person who might have witness this incident to call with information,” Ernst added.
